I’ve become a little doubtful of Creative Commons’ terms of licencing, but as a general rule, if you want to use my photography in your artwork and sell that artwork, I am all right with that. I’m also all right with copying and displaying my photos as they are for free. What I would not be okay with is copying the work as-is and putting it on a print-on-demand site like Zazzle or printing it as a poster to sell — in other words, making money of it without adding value to it with your own creative contribution.

If you want to use my photos, please contact me and we’ll discuss particular uses of individual photos. It’s laborious, I know, but better that way than there be any confusion about the legality of the way you’d like to use my work.

The same, more or less, goes for my artwork, except that you should always credit me if you distribute my artwork, and you may not use them for commercial purposes, even modified. If you want to, contact me and we’ll discuss it.

I should add that photos with people in them are not necessarily ones I can grant you right to use, since recognizable people photographed on the street have special protections in different countries. Morally, I think the model should agree to the use of the pic in those cases.

  1. I adore the “bull dyke” pic and slogan ” I never understood why it’s an insult”. I created a gender based dictionary-thesaurus. The message of this poster ties perfectly with the reasons why I created this reference site. I’m asking for permission to use the pic as an enhancement to my definition, “The masculine sensation who hankers for the love of a sweet lady lass.” I will link the pic back to your page under your name. Please say yes, this is an awesome pic!

My site is new and has no ads.

Thank you! And absolutely you can use it. Thanks for asking.

I’d work on that definition, though. As it is it can describe more than just bull dykes, and may not describe all bull dykes if you really get down to the nitty gritty.

  2. Thanks so much! I want to be as thorough as possible, do you have any suggestions as to how I should word it? I don’t want to offend and don’t want to get it wrong! A lot of words have up to 3-4 definitions like maiden means several things. I will also do more research. Thanks so much for your feedback!

I’m sure you could quibble about this forever! I checked out your project and it seems pretty tongue-in-cheek, so for that your definition is probably just fine! 🙂
