Knitting

About two years ago (how time flies!) I got myself a round loom on a whim, even though I’d never been a knitter of any sort. I’m sorry to say the next sentence isn’t going to be “and now I’m knitting sweaters and socks and dragons!” I’ve knitted some hats and some scarves. My most ambitious project, a cap with flaps, fell flat, which led me to put aside all knitting for a while.

It is therapeutic! I’ve been busy and as you can probably tell, my creative impulses drag me in seven different directions. It makes improvement slow – I only got really interested in making better indoor backgrounds around the same time I bought my loom, despite having been an artist (or “artist”) since childhood. Knitting simple panels or tubes has been quite comfortable and I haven’t really felt the need to push beyond that.

Oh, I know I should. I do want to. Just as I want to finally learn to thread my own sewing machine and to make myself a dress or a big billowy skirt. It’ll have to wait until the moment is right or I’m bored with everything else.

In the meanwhile, here’s some of what I’ve made.
